Welcome to the Wellbeing South East website
The South East is one of the healthiest and most affluent regions in England, but the continued presence of significant inequalities and new threats to health, such as the rising levels of obesity, mean there is no room for complacency. Health is everyone's business. This website supports those working to promote healthier liferstyles and those whose work impacts on physical health and mental wellbeing.
Practitioners from a range of professional and volunteer backgrounds, including regional and local Government, the NHS, education and skills, voluntary and community organisations, and businesses have called for a means of keeping up to date with policies, strategies and funding opportunities. You have also asked for case studies, a diary of forthcoming events and training courses, and the facility to find and share news with partners. This website aims to meet such information needs.
About us
This website has been developed over the past three years as a joint project between the Department of Health South East's Healthy Weight Team and the BIG Lottery funded chances4change programme. The recent health reforms have changed the architecture of the health greatly and resulted in the closure of the regional healthy weight programme and the disbanding of the South East Healthy Weight Team. The chances4change programme is also due to close in November 2011 as funding for the programme comes to an end. Consequently there are plans in place to transfer ownership of this website to a new social enterprise and you will be informed of the change when it happens. In the meantime the website is being maintained by the remaining members of the Department of Health South East and the chances4change programme. We will continue to keep it up-to-date and develop it as a useful resource for all those working to improve the health of the regional population.
